Education Abroad Information Sessions

    Education Abroad First-Time Info Sessions are designed to help you understand more about education abroad options, financing and academic planning, as well as highlight programs and opportunities you may not have heard about. We also offer info sessions on National Student Exchange (NSE), scholarship opportunities, specific programs and other various topics.

    View the schedule and sign up below. All info sessions are held in-person at the International Programs Office Conference Room, LLC Building #3 unless otherwise noted. A Zoom link to the Education Abroad First-Time Info Session can be requested for students located outside of Moscow.

    Types of Sessions

    Education Abroad First-Time Info Sessions

    These info sessions are designed to help you understand more about education abroad options, financing and academic planning, as well as highlight programs and opportunities you may not have heard about. Attending this info session is the first step toward making your education abroad dreams a reality! Info sessions are held weekly throughout the semester. Zoom is available for students located outside of Moscow only.

    National Student Exchange Info Session

    These info sessions are designed to help you understand more about National Student Exchange, an option for U of I students to study away for a semester or year at another U.S. or Canadian member institution, including Puerto Rico, Guam, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Info sessions are held several times per semester.

    Scholarship Info Sessions

    Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Info Session: Are you a Pell Grant recipient looking to fund your education abroad experience? Attend this info session to learn how you can apply for the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and be eligible for up to $5,000 to study abroad. Info sessions are held at the beginning of each semester.

    Idaho First-Generation Global Fellowship Info Session: The Idaho First-Generation Global Fellowship awards up to 10 first-generation students up to $3,000 toward a future WorldStrides education abroad program. Attend this info session to learn more about the Fellowship eligibility, requirements, and how to apply! Info sessions are in mid-October and early-March.

    Using Financial Aid & Scholarships for Faculty Led Study Abroad Programs: Are you planning on attending a faculty-led study abroad program? Attend this info session to learn about using financial aid for these specific program types, and about other scholarship opportunities. Info sessions are held at the beginning of the Fall semester, and sometimes at the beginning of the Spring semester if programs are still recruiting.
